Project checklist & procedure

M&M project

Goal: To make a machine that can sort, distribute and organize the colors of any M&Ms.

Materials:
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Arduino
  • M&M
  • 2* motors
  • wires
  • color sensors
  • serv motor

Steps
  1.  Learn how arduino works
  2. Test motor
  3. connect ardunio
  4. code ardunio into activating motor
  5. Find a way to attach to the machine
  6. Find a way to connect to motor
  7. test speed
  8. If failed, repeat 2 -7
  9. If success, manage the faster speeding time.

Questions:

Before we get started, do we have everything we need?

What do we need?

How much help are we going to get from this?

When are going to get things done?

How fast can we make the machine go?

beginning of the project

today
1.obtained motor controller and motor
2. planned to connect the 5v and 12v supply
3.tried troubleshooting tensorflow for possible use in machine vision

Later,
1.hook up the raspberry pi to all the motors and wires
2.start writing code for sorting the m &m's
3.troubleshoot further problems

So today I officially started the project with Dylan, covering the goals and ideas of the project as well as some advice for how to tackle development of the hardware and software. For example, we will need to be able to control the servo motor to be fast enough to accept the m & m's quickly and sort them. This appears to be the main bottleneck. The main issue with the coding is whether or not the opencv or tensorflow package will be able to work.
